Bumper Repair
Our bumper cell handles everything from parking lot scuffs to major impact splits on polypropylene, polyurethane, and ABS substrates. We rebuild structural integrity using plastic fusion welding, restore surface geometry with flexible fillers, and refinish with color-matched basecoat and clearcoat systems that flex with the bumper without cracking or delaminating.
THE BUMPER RESTORATION PROTOCOL
1. Damage Assessment & Substrate Identification
The bumper is removed to inspect hidden damage to mounting brackets, impact absorbers, and reinforcement bars. We identify the substrate type, polypropylene, polyurethane, or ABS, to select the correct fusion and filler chemistry. Parking sensors, trim, and adaptive cruise modules are carefully removed and cataloged. This stage determines whether the bumper can be repaired or if replacement is the safer and more economical path.
2. Plastic Welding, Filler Application & Shape Reforming
Cracks and splits are V-grooved and welded using nitrogen-fed plastic fusion systems matched to the bumper substrate. This creates a molecular bond stronger than the surrounding material. Major voids are filled with high-build flexible structural filler that expands and contracts with temperature shifts. The surface is then block-sanded to recreate the original OEM contour, ensuring parking sensors and trim will mount flush after refinishing.
3. Flexible Primer, Color Match & Paint Application
A flexible adhesion promoter and high-build primer are applied to seal the plastic substrate and prevent paint delamination. The bumper is then color-matched to your vehicles paint code and sprayed with basecoat in a temperature-controlled booth. A high-solids clearcoat formulated for flexible plastics is applied over the color to provide UV protection and gloss while maintaining the elasticity the bumper needs to survive minor impacts without cracking.
4. Assembly, Fitment & Parking Sensor Calibration
Once cured, parking sensors, adaptive cruise modules, and trim are reinstalled. The bumper is mounted to the vehicle and checked for panel gaps and flushness against adjacent wings, bonnet, and headlights. Sensor function is verified using diagnostic calibration tools to ensure detection ranges and trigger points match factory specifications. The vehicle is cleared for collection only after every mechanical and electronic function is confirmed.
